THE police and council will be giving free motor security items and advice to residents in Darwen on Friday.
From 10am to 2pm on the market rooftop car park, tamper-proof number plate screws for cars as well as motorbike chain locks and anchors will be handed out to drivers.
The initiative is in response to a spate of motor thefts in the town which has gone on for several months. To qualify, residents must live within Darwen and its rural surroundings and register in advance by calling Amanda Grimshaw on 01254 222154.
On the day, they must also bring proof of address, insurance documents and the vehicle.
