PLANS to crack down on unauthorised signs on a popular roundabout in Colne have been welcomed by borough councillors.

Council development control officials have called for the removal of illegally-erected hoardings on land controlled by North Valley Plumbing, based in the former pub of the same name on North Valley Road and members of the Colne area committed have supported enforcement action against the owners.

Coun Joe Cooney said: “It is a mess and it needs cleaning up as quickly as possible.”

Coun David Clegg said: “It is quite dangerous for road users.”
