THE owners of several dilapidated houses in Rishton will be targeted by the council.
Local councillor Ken Moss said several addresses in Spring Street and Shuttleworth Street were in a ‘very run-down condition and are a detriment to their particular area’.
Council enforcement officers were placing strong pressure on the owners to get them back into use, Mr Moss said, warning they would face ‘stiff penalties’ if they failed to comply. He added: “Other properties within Rishton are known to be below standard and all of them will be addressed by councillors.”
Two homes, in Mary Street and Sands Road, were recently improved.
