LANCASHIRE County Council have urged the Britannia Coconut Dancers to find funding for their Easter parade through grants.
Phil Barrett, director Lancashire County Council highway services, said: “In the past this event has been managed by Rossendale Borough Council and the police. We are aware that Lancashire police have informed the Coconutters that, while they supported the event last year, they would not support it this year. This leaves the county council with the responsibility to ensure the safety of the dancers, spectators, and other road users on the busy main A-roads through Bacup.”
He said the council had encouraged to them to take advantage of funding opportunities available.
