Inquest into ‘asbestos’ death opens
AN inquest has been opened at Burnley into the death of a suspected asbestos victim.
Peter James Smith, 71, was found dead at his home in Stone Edge Road, Barrowford, on January 30.
Burnley Coroner’s Court was told he had been diagnosed with mesothelioma in 2012 and had been exposed to asbestos during his working life.
East Lancashire assistant coroner Mark Williams adjourned an inquest into his death, for further inquiries, until May 13.
