PUPILS studied fossils dating back millions of years in a recent field trip.
Children studying the Jurassic era at Stonyhurst College were able to become fossil hunters for a day at a local site.
Year one and two pupils aged 11 to 13 enjoyed a fascinating trip to Salthill Quarry in Clitheroe where impressions of ancient plants can still be found among the rocks.
The youngsters spent time at the quarry discovering ‘crinoids’ 340 million year old fossils of plants known as sea lilies.
