PUPILS have been showing pride in their neighbourhood with special litter picks.
Accrington pupils from Mount Carmel High School, Wordsworth Road, and St Peter’s Primary School, Cartmel Avenue, have been joining forces to pick up litter in the area.
The event, in the Fern Gore area, was arranged with local landlord Hyndburn Homes.
Support for the project was also given by Lancashire Police and Hyndburn Council.
Michael Nash, pastoral support officer at Mount Carmel said: “It was really good to see so many young people involved in this litter pick.
“Over 15 bags of rubbish were collected in just over an hour!
“Thanks to all for their work.
“It is good to give something back to the local community.”
