BURNLEY Liberal Democrat Gordon Birtwistle is one of 98 MPs to sign a Commons motion calling for the Government to increase UK spending on higher education to the same level as countries such as Germany, India and China.
The motion says that “high quality tertiary education provides enhanced life chances for individuals, significant benefits for society and is essential for the UK’s long-term economic sustainability”.
