CALDERSTONES Hospital in Whalley held a county parade and service of remembrance at the weekend.
The parade and service is the only event in the county to be officially organised by the Royal British Legion.
Hospital administrators approached the local RBL branch over 40 years ago to organise a fitting tribute to servicemen who died from their war wounds following admission to Calderstones.
The Ribble Valley Mayor, Coun Richard Sherras and Whalley councillor Joyce Holgate attended the ceremony at St Luke’s Chapel. It was followed by a wreath laying ceremony at the war cemetery.
