ROSSENDALE’S distinct dialect will be the subject of a poetry and story-telling evening in Rawtenstall.
Dialect expert Sid Calderbank will be performing his show, A Lancashire Garland, in the town’s library, in Queen's Square, from 7pm on November 28.
A spokesman for Lancashire Libraries said: “During the evening Sid will be bringing us the work of some of the Lancashire poets, many of whom had connections with the Rossendale area.”
Mr Calderbank is chairman of The Lancashire Society, a committee member of the Edwin Waugh Dialect Society and the founder of National Dialect Day, held last weekend in Exeter.
