TEENAGERS are hoping the site of former council offices in Rossendale can be transformed into an ad-hoc skate park.
Demolition is scheduled for Rawtenstall’s town hall annexe in early 2014, after the one-stop shop there relocated to Bacup’s Future Park last December.
Council officials do not want to interfere with Christmas trading and will only bulldoze the annexe building in the New Year.
Phil Seddon, finance and property services head, said in a report: “Following informal discussions with young people who meet on the Town Square, there has been a proposal via Rawtenstall Town Team that the hardstanding and adjacent lower car park be made available for young people as an informal meeting point and skate area.
“However this is subject to external funding and (our) redevelopment plan noted. Initially the current planned finish will be compressed hard core.”
