SOLAR panels have been installed at Burnley General Hospital’s new urgent care centre.
Martin Morgan, director of estates and facilities at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust, said: “I am pleased to report that the trust’s first solar panels are being installed on the roof of the new Integrated Urgent Care Centre at Burnley General Hospital.
“These are used to raise the temperature of water before it goes into the boilers to serve the heating and hot water systems.
“We will also shortly be installing photovoltaic panels on the roof of the Edith Watson building, which will be used to generate electricity for use on the site.”
The urgent care centre is due to open next year.
