THE pieces are falling into place for first ever jigsaw festival which is being held in Rossendale But the organisers say that they now need extra help from the volunteers and other people to donate more puzzles.
The fun event will be a joint venture between Edenfield Parish Church and St Paul’s Church in Ramsbottom.
It has played host to Ramsbottom's first ever pie festival last month.
It is hoped the puzzle extravaganza will be held next September.
They require donations of the puzzles, people who would like to design new versions of the games, volunteers to steward the three-day event and people to help out the committee with planning the festival.
The Rev. Anthony Barnshaw, who is vicar at Edenfield, St Paul’s and Shuttleworth’s St John churches, said: “Our co-ordinator, David Foster, visited a jigsaw festival in Lytham St Annes and thought it might be good to do one of our own. We’ve pulled off our other festivals successfully and this would be another fun venture to bring the community together.
“We are flying blind with this one though, because we have never done one before, which is why we want people to come forward and show their support.
“Because there really is no point in doing the festival if no one’s interested in it.
“We won’t be asking for a lot from stewards, just an hour or so of setting the jigsaws up and also making some tea and coffee.
“We want a good variety of jigsaws of all different sizes and difficulties.
“And for all ages so everyone can join in, which is why we want people to donate or to make them.
“We’d like lots on show and lots available to buy.”
