A MAN has appeared in court over his alleged escape from an open prison.
William Andrew Gilheaney, 26, of Queensway, Newchurch, was sent in custody to Preston Crown Court when he appeared before Blackburn magistrates.
He was charged with escaping from custody at Kirkham Prison where he was serving a sentence for offences of affray, possessing an offensive weapon and criminal damage.
