AUTHOR and sports writer Dan Freedman visited students at a Darwen school to talk about his experiences.
The author of the Jamie Johnson series of books visited Darwen Aldridge Community Academy.
He explained how he hated reading as a child but went on to become a sports reporter, touring the the English football team at the 2002 and 2006 World Cups as part of his role as editor for the FA website. The freelance sports journalist told students about his life as an author and how he had been unable to make it as a professional footballer.
A school spokeswoman said: “The students were really excited and encouraged to ask questions.
“His inspirational message of the importance of literacy will encourage students to read more books and not be afraid to strive to make the most of their abilities.”
