A NEW care home looks set to be be built on the site of Bacup’s former health centre.
Land in Yorkshire Street has stood empty for several years after the health centre relocated to Rochdale Road.
But after becoming a magnet for arsonists and vandals, Krinvest Care Group announced they were resurrecting plans to build a 39-bed home there.
First suggested and approved in 2009, the proposals were submitted to the borough council and have now been approved afresh by the development control committee.
Around an eighth of the site will house the care home and the remainder will be used for a 21-space car park.
It is expected that the development will generate 20 full-time positions.
