British Gas was experiencing an outage with its online services on Monday, Jnauary 31.
The company confirmed that it was experiencing system issues, affecting customers' ability to top up via the website and the app.
According to the outage website Down Detector, 54% of customers were unable to log in, 42% could not get on the website and 4% were unable to pay bills.
Customers took to Twitter to contact British Gas about the issues: "is there an outage effect the Lancashire area currently as I cannot top-up our gas at all via the app?"

Another said: "the app is down, directs to website. Website is down, you can top up online. That doesnt work. How do i top up so my kids dont freeze? Presuming if not sorted me and every customer will be eligble for compensation?"
British Gas replied: "we're currently experience [sic] system issues and it will be treated as a priority so hopefully everything will be fixed ASAP."
Issues were reported on Down Detector at around 6.42pm on Monday and were resolved by Tuesday, February 1.
