My walkout at the last full council meeting in Burnley was as a protest at the flagrant misrepresentation of what the £9m of investment for Burnley General Hospital urgent care centre actually means.
It is just a rebuild of the centre and outpatients.
There will be no increase in services as I have been informed.
The excellent service we now have with serious cases to Blackburn and minor cases at Burnley will continue.
The LibDems also claim a 50 per cent increase in ‘blue light’ services to Burnley. Yes, that is true, but it’s women being transferred to the maternity unit.
I have been involved in health care for many years and I do hope we can increase the services at Burnley in order to help them achieve foundation status.
Coun Tony Harrison.
