We have a system in the UK which promotes democracy.
Yet the proposed changes to the electoral boundaries have made it impossible for the opposition parties to select a candidate and engage Jake Berry in meaningful debate with regards current affairs.
Jake promoted himself as a champion in creating apprenticeships through Crown Paints (LT, January 26). The apprenticeships at Crown were in fact devised by myself through the GMB Union in consultation with the CEO of Crown Paints and plans were put in place in 2010.
I could point to other instances where Jake Berry has attempted to hijack the hard work of others but need go no further than the recent report of his championing the reduction in theft of scrap metal.
Hyndburn Labour MP Graham Jones had his Private Members Bill on the issue defeated by Parliament in January.
Jake needs to tell us when or how he can create much-needed jobs and prosperity in his constituency where youth unemployment has grown by 34%.
- Pete Hollings, Labour Candidate, Sunnyhurst Ward, Darwen.
