Some of our local coun-cillors now appear to think that the voter’s complaints come second best to all other duties they take on with our council.
These other duties, ie committees, member for highways or regeneration etc, now seem to take precedence over everything else, and voters’ problems seem to be shoved on the back-burner.
An instance of this was when rubbish from an overflowing bin was spilling into the back street near to my home, which the refuse collectors would quite rightly not deal with.
When I reported this to one of my local councillors, he seemed disgusted and vowed that it would be remedied forthwith.
However, this did not happen and I therefore reported the same to another local councillor, Kate Hollern, a very busy lady. She had it cleaned up the very next day.
Councillors’ duties should be first and foremost to serve the voters who put them there in the first place.
P Newton (Mr), Blackburn.
