Surely the new Darwen Town Council, with its duplication of councillors for the same wards, is not sustainable in these difficult financial times?
With reduced funding, Darwen is looking neglected and unkempt.
Recent complaints of grassed areas not being maintained and inconsiderate dog owners using them as toilet areas for their pets is a disgrace.
Recent visitors to the Sunnyhurst Wood Gala will have noticed that what was once a well-maintained area now contains a paddling pool area badly silted up, and grass is now well established including areas by the waterfalls and in front of the kiosk.
With council staff losing their jobs, and salaries frozen, what purpose do these councillors with their expenses have?
Also, should council tax payers have to pay an additional levy to fund this policy?
D Walsh, Darwen.
