Well done, Blackburn with Darwen Council, for maintaining in pristine condition the beautifully mown grass and tended flower beds on Bolton Road in front of the eyesore that was Blackburn Royal Infirmary.
I am sure all visitors will be delighted. It may even distract them long enough not to notice the derelict building or heap of rubble rising directly behind like silent monuments to the Blitz.
Pity, though, that a few quid can’t be found to trim the meadow at the McDonald’s end of Livesey Branch Road that is supposed to be a grass verge, and which sadly now only serves as a toilet for dogs, or care for the ‘garden’ that was created at the bottom of Fernhurst Street.
Both are in Ewood, the once proud home of Blackburn Rovers, which actually still does get the occasional visitors in the football season.
A once proud resident of Ewood (via email).
