I would be interested to know the current intention regarding the Mother and Baby Statue which was removed from Lord Square prior to its demolition in 2007.
At the time the Lancashire Telegraph reported that the statue had been gifted to Blackburn with Darwen Council and that it would be relocated to a new site in the town.
It was proposed that the wife of the sculptor, the late Robert Thomas, would help to choose a new location for the statue.
Almost four years have now gone by with, to my knowledge, no sign of the statue’s reappear-ance.
This much admired artwork stood in Blackburn for over 30 years and I for one wish to see it returned.
I would be very grateful if someone would tell me where the statue is now and what plans are in place for its future.
