It is reported that Tony Blair has lost a battle to keep four police officers providing 24/7 armed protection for his £3.5million London home, now, only two will remain.
The report also says that even though he is often overseas, up to twelve more Met officers were also responsible for protecting the property.
As he jets around the world, a 16-strong Scotland Yard ‘close protection’ team also travel with him.
In addition, an undisclosed number of officers from Thames Valley Police guard his £6million pound mansion in Buckinghamshire.
I cannot help but wonder what must go through the minds of members of the public in London and Buckinghamshire when they are told that the police cannot deal with a crime because they have neither the manpower nor the resources.
D Walker, Barrowford.
