SO H Hamer (LT, June 11) wants to go back to the good old days when there was less crime and we kept on hanging people.
Why were we hanging people, if hanging deterred crime?
The truth is, countries with a death penalty have no shortage of people to execute.
Not quite the solution H Hamer is seeking. Since abolition, there has been no increase in UK capital killings.
D Pratt (Mr), Accrington.
