I TOOK my family (two sons) to the 1940s weekend on the East Lancashire steam railway. What a waste of £42.
The boys like to see different uniforms.
The “ban” kept everyone who does dress in German uniform away.
I have friends who dress this way and stay in hotels in Bury for the full three days.
The Jewish community may be offended but they are only a small part of a much bigger community.
Don’t we have a say?
I, as an animal lover, could have been offended by the 1940s fashion of wearing fur stoles but I can do no more than try to bring them to life then I can banish the 1940s. It did exist.
My children learn from these weekends, things they do not learn in school.

One side of a football game does not result in a match.
Weekends from the 1940s need both sides to strike a balance.
I won’t be going again.
John Hardwick.
