Our thanks to the Lancashire Telegraph for excellent coverage of the Dedication and Opening of the new Sea Cadet HQ (June 6).
However, I would like to make a minor correction. The unit was oficially opened by the High Sheriff of Lancashire Peter Milehan and not by the commanding officer Lt J Redhead.
It might also be assumed that the building shown in the background of the cadets' photo is the new headquarters whereas it is in fact the somewhat larger Somme TA Barracks.
We would like to express gratitude to the Mayor, Councillor Karimeh Foster, members of the St George's Day Society and all who attended the ceremony for making it a most memorable and enjoyable day.
What we need now are more young people to join this excellent organisation.
You will have fun whilst learning skills which will be of great value in future careers and adulthood. Cadets parade 7pm on Monday (Sea Cadets), Tuesday (Royal Marine Cadets) and Thursday (all cadets).
Donations towards running costs are always most welcome and appreciated.
If you require further information please contact the unit.
