I WAS surprised to read (LT, May 25) that Blackburn with Darwen NHS is cutting back on foot care for the elderly.

In my experience, Black-burn has always been tardy offering this service unless you were unfortunate enough to suffer from diabetes/neuropathy, etc. To my knowledge, this discrimination does not prevail elsewhere.

Whilst I appreciate that mental conditions take precedence, this practice does not take account of those who may have poor eyesight or suffer from arthritis where they cannot even reach their feet, much less cut their nails.

I have been asked on two occasions whether there is anyone else who can cut my nails for me. It smacks of an authority abrogating its responsibility.
