I fully agree with Ex-Fusilier (Opinion, May 10) on having a referendum for a return to corporal punishment, and hanging for murderers.
The government will have a referendum on anything except what people want. The AV vote was time and money wasted.
What we have in this country is a Toytown government and a pathetic, useless Toytown justice system which provides no justice for victims of crime.
The police get the criminals to court only to see their time wasted by Mr Noddy magistrates letting these people off the hook time and time again.
How many times before have they appeared in court?
Forty, sixty, in some cases over a hundred times and still nothing happens.
What a sad country we live in.
C R James, Brierfield.
