I WOULD like to think Mr O'Neill's letter (LT, August 18) was sent to cause sensationalism. It was apparent it was sent by someone who has no concept of disability or disadvantage.

I would like him to try to perceive what it is like to have very limited mobility and have to visit, as most people have to on a regular occurrence with disabilities, Royal Blackburn Hospital.

This facility was supposed to have been planned to take into account needs of service users. It has fallen well short of the mark.

I am sure Mr O'Neill has never laid awake wondering how he is going to manage getting from the car park to his destination.

A more productive venting of anger would be geared at people who use disabled spaces and disabled badges belonging to others when they are healthy.

This is becoming more and more common. You are required to have a picture of yourself on one side of the badge. It would be better if you had to display this.

He obviously thinks free parking is a fair swop in return for a disability. Would he then like my disability as well as my parking space? If this is the case I would gladly swop.

I just hope that your letter does not come back to haunt you in years to come.

MRS J WARING, Parker Street, Rishton.
