DARWEN Vale school governor Coun Simon Huggill made some astonishing claims.

He suggested that because the school was built on a hill and that the weather had been bad in recent months, the pupils would be susceptible to bad behaviour.

He went on to mention that because pupils had to change buildings in between lessons, there would be disruption to classes.

Not content with these ridiculous comments, he then suggested that teachers would find it difficult to confiscate mobile phones because of the children’s human rights!

Sorry, Mr Huggill, but I attended that school a few years ago and it was still on that same hill and the weather was often worse.

I also had to walk from building to building but never once did I get the urge to threaten, swear, intimidate or video any of my teachers.
