IN regard to the comments on the drama at Darwen Tower, I fully agree with most of what is being said.

A few weeks ago, an incident took place in Hapton at a ‘motocross’ event organised by the Ride XC Group in which a man was taken to hospital by North West Air Ambulance.

This event may have been based at a farm with permission but the route crossed what they called ‘open moorland’.

I am aware that motor-bikers meet virtually every Saturday near Loveclough and ride across footpaths and moorland around the Great Hameldon Hill area and leave the land very much similar to the state as portrayed in the photo of the Darwen Tower area after the 4x4 incident.

I have nothing against the sport but only if it is carried out lawfully.
