I REFER to an article (LT, December 31) regarding financial cuts Blackburn with Darwen Council will be forced to make.
I note with some concern that the library and the elderly will be in the proposed cuts.
I feel strongly that the library and the elderly should be protected. Libraries are a cultural asset providing pleasure beyond measure to the people of the town.
The elderly, after 13 years of Labour government, should have been financially secure.
The merchant bankers are responsible for the financial crisis we now face. They should pay dearly for their folly.
East Lancashire MPs should now appeal to the coalition government to have the same deal Oxford receives. Cameron says that if too much pressure is placed on city bankers, they will leave.
This is a Cameron myth.
London provides world class entertainment and their children attend the finest public schools in the UK.
