I THINK cobbles are worth saving. The only reason they have been tarmaced over in some streets was for the motor car.
It’s nice to keep some of the old things for history.
In the 1950s, I can remember when Lemonius Street front and back was cobbled.
By the 1960s and certainly by the 1980s, much of Accrington’s old industry had died.
On a separate note, if the new Tesco is able to emply people – even in supermarket work and not industry – I feel it is only to be good for the area.
If people are employed, it helps to keep down crime.
