IT was interesting to read about the new rules/ regulations now in force at the Whalley and Wiswell burial ground.

Has Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council cemeteries department any set rules or regulations in place as to what is or what is not acceptable?

For almost three years now, there has been an addition to many memorials in Pleasington Cemetery, Blackburn.

It is called a “band and stake”.

A number of grave owners have had these unsightly additions removed from their grave at considerable cost, but the council does not appear to have been nearly as enthusiastic.

Can we look forward to Pleasington Cemetery being restored anytime soon, or are we to endure these ugly bands/stakes for some time to come?
