Cuts won’t always save money, for instance cuts to the NHS will affect treatment courses and as recent figures have shown most Incapacity Claimants are either long-term sick or chronically sick.
Chronic sickness is the failure of the NHS to treat people early and leads to dependency on benefits to survive, whilst early intervention would save money in the long term for both the NHS and the benefits system.
Better targeting of NHS resources and early intervention to help people get better and back to work, the Incapacity test should include an assessment of the treatment given and use specialists in the claimants condition to review the treatment on behalf of the benefits system.
Some cuts will Con-Dem many vulnerable and elderly people but in the long term it will Con-Dem the Co-Li-De Government.
