In response to Bryan Thompson (LT, June 15) I find his response to A Hind’s letter rude.
It has nothing to do with not being bothered or shunning ex-comrades. It is to do with a lot of younger ex-servicemen and women, working and supporting our families.
On numerous occasions, I have enquired about joining the Legion, and asked when meetings are held as they want younger members. I have been met with a wall of silence.
I attend every Remembrance service at St.Peters, Darwen, and have never been asked to get involved.
This request was actually printed in this very paper, they just forgot to inform everyone of the times and dates of the meetings!
So Mr. Thompson, I on behalf of ex-servicemen who can be bothered, say to you inform us of meetings, venues and contacts so we can be involved, around our employment and family commitments.
Simon Charnley, Darwen
