DAVE Smith (LT, June 12) is, like many other Labour supporters, and Gordon Brown himself happy to blame our financial problems on others.

However, many of our problems are self-inflicted. Who virtually single-handed, destroyed most of out private pension arrangements?

Who sold much of our gold reserves for a fraction of what they are now worth? Who almost doubled spending on the health service with no apparent improvement? Who vastly increased spending on state education, which still turns out many semi literate school leavers?

What socialists cannot hide is their jealousy and envy of multi millionaires. They forget that it is only the wealth creators that are taxed so that Labour can waste money when in office.

However, the economic shambles is not the only legacy of the Blair/Brown years.

Remember the mass immigration hoisted on the country. We are now locked into a federal Europe without a referendum. Justice has been turned on its head via the Human Rights Legislation.

There has been a ruthless assault on civil liberties and freedom of speech and the legally binding demonisation of Christian values.
