WE’D like to say a big thank-you to all those involved in the Community Fun Day which was held at Buttermere Green on the Chorley Moor Estate on Wednesday, June 2.
Thanks to the efforts of everyone who contributed, this was truly an afternoon full of fun and glorious sunshine, which was enjoyed by everyone who attended.
Funding, staff and volunteers from Chorley Community Housing, Help Direct and The Community Church, Chorley enabled the event to be free to attend and included a free barbecue, bouncy castles, DJ, craft making, nail art, a dog show, sports coaching, advice agencies and much more.
The day was possible due to the combined efforts of over 14 agencies and volunteer groups working together for the benefit of the community.
These included the Estate’s Residency Committee, Commando Joe’s Assault Course, Citizens Advice and the St John Ambulance.
Thanks also to councillors Ken and Nora Ball, the new Mayor and Mayoress of Chorley, for opening the event and the special guest appearance from Bolton Wanderers mascot Lofty the Lion.
It’s heartwarming to see so many people working together to add some joy and entertainment to the lives of Chorley folk.
Plans are provisionally in place to run the event again next summer.
PASTORS DAVID and LISA STONER, The Community Church, Chorley.
