THE following was a comment made by Coun Alan Cottam in an article about a new waste plant to be built in the borough.
Dismissing concerns from residents, he added: “I live within very close walking distance of an incinerator – it’s called a crematorium and I’m not making a big song and dance about it am I?”
Yet another ridiculous comment from the regeneration chief.
His comment above is, in my opinion, both childish and inappropriate.
A new waste plant will be of no comparison to the crematorium in Pleasington.
I spoke to a member of the Darwen Conservative Party some time ago about the kind of things Councillor Cottam comes out with.
I’m still waiting for someone in the Conservative Party to gag him.
Ask the Blackburn market traders, for instance: they will have a recollection of a comment, something about the market resembling a car boot sale!
GED JOHNSON, Darwen.
