COUNCILLOR Mulla in his letter attacking Israel for its commando raid on the aid convoy to Gaza (LT, June 2) obviously has a blinkered view of the conflict, from a Muslim viewpoint.
Israel only imposed the ban on aid to Gaza following the 2009 war with the militant Hamas group who fire thousands of rockets into Israel.
Those who boarded the ship were fully aware that Israel would do everything in its power to prevent the ship getting through and therefore must have known that there would be every chance of people being killed.
Coun Mulla makes no mention of the weapons found on board the ship which included knives, machetes, catapults, clubs and axes.
It is obviously in everyone’s interest for there to be a peaceful settlement in the Middle East but it is very difficult to achieve that when the Palestinian people elected Hamas who are committed to the destruction of the state of Israel.
Only when Israel feels secure and violence is rejected will the blockade be lifted and a peaceful settlement become a possibility.
