I READ your article (LET, May 27) about the predicament of Mr and Mrs Dennis Cramp.

I would like to say that I am appalled at the heartlessness of Lancashire County Council's social services department.

Shame on all of them. These people are bound together in love and marriage "until death do they part."

Why can they not be allowed to live and die together as they wish?

Is there anything that we, as mere bystanders, can do to help these poor souls in their desperate hour?
