AS the new Councillor for Lower Darwen, I have been attacked by lots of people who have not asked me what I stand for. I think it is a case of sour grapes by the losing parties as to the reasons why they lost.
Green Party: After reading his letter I would not vote for him as he made no sense. How can I have a track record when I have only just been elected?
Conservative: The party expected to win. The list of achievements on the leaflet came to three things in two years. They failed to sort out the real problems that we in the ward have to deal with on a daily basis.
The other parties did not even bother. Let's be real about what happened. I won because I live in the ward. I also know what is really going on.
To prove my point, when I went to a Fernhurst & Ewood residents meeting I was amazed to find out the Conservatives have never been to a meeting in the last two years.
Let's get things right. You vote for a councillor because he will work for the ward, not play party politics.
Councillors are there to represent the ward. The council is there to represent the borough and MPs make big money playing politics in Westminster.
Now you know what I stand for. All the leaflets we put out had an information line stating where you could ask us anything.
They had contact numbers and all know where I live so who is hiding?
As a footnote: I believe if the councillors had done the job they were voted in to do then I would not have been voted in.
People in glass houses should not throw stones.
COUNCILLOR MICHAEL JOHNSON, Uncle Jacks, Lower Darwen.
