I WRITE in response to John Porter's letter (LET, May 20). Has he forgotten what happened during the war?

Scotland, Ireland and Wales and the rest of the Commonwealth countries stood side by side for England's survival, and as we all know it was a multinational people who put England on the map and where it is today.

I feel sorry for the German people. They were led by a dictator, and had to do what they were told.

So what excuse have we in England for turning to far-right parties? We can't blame the leaders. It's the people that vote for these parties.
