HAVING recently moved to Blackburn with Darwen, I was very disappointed at the very poor support given to the Civic Sunday on May 21.

Thanks and appreciation is due to the few schools which brought representatives and the other organisations represented at the parade and in the Cathedral, but so many secondary schools were missing.

Neither the Army nor Air Cadets were present, the community associations, which are often financially supported by the borough were only sparsely represented.

Where has the civic pride gone?

This is an opportunity to demonstrate pride in the borough yet so many groups chose not to do so.
