THE new traffic system in Blackburn town centre appears to have been planned without any local thought being involved. It's confusing, chaotic and worse of all it's dangerous.
One only has to stand at the junction of Lord Street and Barton Street for two minutes to see what a dangerous situation has been created.
The Church Street fiasco ended up with a very expensive car park at the bottom and a junk yard at the top, flanked by empty shops.
Traffic is forced through the Boulevard where there should be traffic restrictions because that is where people walk to catch buses and trains.
Because of these facts, most of the people who use the town centre wanted things left alone for fear of another similar debacle.
If the council has money to spare then perhaps it should be spent on providing elderly people with a decent meals on wheels service or other services which deserve a higher priority than these ludicrous traffic schemes.
