IF there is anyone who is still wondering why the County Council's share of the community charge is so exorbitant, then perhaps the following will help.
About 100 yards from Nelson's Town Hall lies the library.
To the right of its main entrance is a group of shrubs.
Noticing that not only were they straggly and overgrown, but that the area around their roots resembled a rubbish tip, I asked for it to be tidied up.
Now here's the rub. Pendle council can clear away the litter, but an inspector has to come all the way from Preston to check on the shrubbery before any work can be approved.
Would it not be quicker and more cost effective if Pendle Council did all the work, or does it not matter when you are spending the public's money?
