WHAT a pity that one of East Lancashire's beautiful historical landmarks surrounded by such natural beauty has to resort to being used for a duck shoot.
It is always hard to understand how entertainment and pleasure can be gained by taking life in any form, particularly when the odds against the creatures are so unjust.
Please think again at Hoghton Tower, surely this slaughter is not necessary.
Would it not be more beneficial for everyone concerned at Hoghton Tower for it to be thought of for its pleasureable events and natural beauty rather than for the bloodshed and suffering caused to these innocent birds for the satisfaction of a minority?
