WITH regard to the article on the Hoghton Tower duck shoot protest by the North West Animal Rights campaigners (LET, May 1).
How reassuring to be told by Lancashire Police: "We have the capacity to deal appropriately with anyone who engages in any unlawful conduct" as they went mob-handed to deal with a handful of shoot protesters, who had the ducks' welfare at heart.
Would a bit of conflict against these Colonel Blimps have been such a bad thing?
Perhaps it would have evened up the odds for the poor ducks.
What a pity London police hadn't the same resolve as our Lancashire officers, when it came to dealing with extremists and their unlawful conduct' in the protest demonstrations in the capital.
Banners and placards contained death threats and racial incitement, but in this case no one was arrested until many weeks later.
It looks like the shoot protesters would have been an easy target, much like the ducks!
