I was disappointed to see Liberal Democrat MPs attending a freedom of speech demonstration in London criticising those of us who have complained about the cartoons of Prophet Muhammad.
They stood there and said that the cartoons, whether you agree with them or not, should be aired as this is a democracy and people have freedom of speech.
Does that mean that someone should be allowed to use racially offensive language?
Of course not, so why do the Liberals say we should be subjected to these cartoons?
Yes, many of the demonstrations have been hijacked by extremists but the majority of us have objected in a calm, peaceful manner.
It seems to me that the Liberal Democrats flip-flop when it comes to having anything to do with principles.
They make great play about their opposition to the war in Iraq yet stand on a public stage calling for people to have the right to produce material which the Muslim community finds wholly offensive.
If the Lib Dems cannot stand by on principle on issues as important as this then just what do they stand for?
Are they just a party that will tell various sections of the community what they want to hear just in order to get votes?
